Bath Remodel project in Rochester

This Rochester bathroom got a new Panasonic exhaust fan wired onto its own dedicated switch, separate from the bathroom lighting.

A lot of older bathrooms have the fan and light tied to the same switch, or even the same circuit, so the fan only runs when the light's on, and shuts off the moment someone flips the light off on their way out, whether or not the room has actually cleared of moisture. Giving the fan its own dedicated switch fixes that. The homeowner can run the fan independently of the lights, leave it on after a shower to finish clearing humidity out of the room, or run it without the lights at all.

We wired the new switch on its own dedicated circuit and installed the Panasonic fan to replace whatever was there before. Panasonic's bathroom fans are a common upgrade pick for a reason: they run quiet, move air efficiently for the room size, and hold up over years of daily use, which matters in a fixture that's mounted in the ceiling and not something most homeowners want to be replacing again in three years.

Separating the fan from the light switch is a small change, but it's the difference between a bathroom that actually clears moisture after every shower and one where the fan barely gets a chance to do its job.
